Upcoming Events in the Calgary Area

Scots’ Gathering (October 6-9, 2017)

With over 70 different classes, this event has something for everyone!  Try out Scottish Gaelic, the Bodhrun or Celtic embroidery.  There will be Scottish Country Dance classes for all levels, taught by Pat Houghton (Scotland), Evelyn Nixon (BC), and Fiona Carnie (Calgary).  Our class musicians are Ron Krug, Mary Ross and Lisa Scott.  Judy Nicols will be our lead teacher for the SCD Musicians workshop.  Check out all the classes and offerings at

134th Annual St Andrew’s Ball and Workshop (Sat. Nov 18, 2017)

This year will feature Luke Brady’s band from Scotland with an added workshop in the morning (9am to noon) featuring Rebecca Blackhall-Peters (Vancouver) and Barbara Johnson (Edmonton) accompanied by Luke and Adam Brady.  The Ball will begin with cocktails at 5:30 pm with the Grand March at 8:30 pm.

St Giles 35th Anniversary Workshop (Sat Mar 10- Sun Mar 11)

Medicine Hat Workshop (Oct 27-29)

We’d like to invite you to our 42nd Anniversary Workshop and Ball.  All classes and the ball will be held at the Medicine Hat Lodge.  We’re hoping you can join us for another great weekend of dancing and fellowship.

We will have three levels of classes, advanced, social and beginner.  Our teachers this year are Ruth Jappy (Vancouver), David Booz (Toronto) and Betsy Brydon (Regina).  Dennis Orr and Ron Krug will play for the classes and also for the ball.
